Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Overview • Supports more than 90 programs that provide health care to people who are geographically isolated, economically or medically vulnerable through grants and cooperative agreements to more than 3,000 awardees, including community and faith-based organizations, colleges and universities, hospitals, state, local, and tribal governments, and private entities • Every year, HRSA programs serve tens of millions of people, including people living with HIV/AIDS, pregnant women, mothers and their families, and those otherwise unable to access quality health care 7/14/2017 2 2

Increase Access to Quality Health Care and Services One in 3 people living at or below the poverty level relies on a HRSA-supported health center for primary medical care (nearly 24.3 million people, more than 9,800 service sites) One in 2 people diagnosed with HIV receives care through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program 10 million people living in health professional shortage areas receive primary medical, dental or mental health care from a National Health Service Corps clinician 7/14/2017 4 4

Increase Access to Quality Health Care and Services Half of pregnant women and one third of infants and children benefit from maternal and child health block grants Nearly 14 million rural Americans receive health services from HRSA-funded providers About 145,500 parents and children participate in the national Home Visiting Program About 30,000 organ transplants and 6,000 blood stem cell transplants are facilitated annually 7/14/2017 5 5

Strengthen the Health Workforce 11,600 medical, dental, and mental and behavioral health care providers in the National Health Service Corps and NURSE Corps work in health professional shortage areas 1,100 students, residents, and health providers in training receive NHSC scholarships to work in underserved communities upon graduation and licensure Support for targeted health professions training programs focused on inter-professional care, mental and behavioral health, among others, as well as programs that increase workforce diversity 7/14/2017 6 6

Strengthen the Health Workforce Support health centers that employ multi-disciplinary teams – 11,800+ physicians and 10,300+ nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified nurse midwives Support primary care residency programs in 60 Teaching Health Centers to help train more than 550 residents annually Trained 5,600 new mental health providers to increase access to mental health services and make schools safer 7/14/2017 7 7
