STUDENT SELF CARRYING MEDICATIONS

  • Non-prescription

– Note from parent or guardian that includes:

  • Name of medication
  • Date
  • Time medication is to be administered or how often

(at lunch or every 4 hours as needed for headache)

  • The dosage of the medication (500mg)

– Medicine should be in original container

– Container should only have enough for 1-2 days – Note needs to stay with medication at all times

STUDENT SELF CARRYING MEDICATIONS

  • For students that are carrying prescription medication to self

administer – Medication Authorization for student on record in nurses office sign by medical provider – Non expired prescription – Original labeled container (ask pharmacy for label for inhaler) – Only enough medication for 1-2 days (ie: migraine medication) – Medications should be easily accessed by student

  • If need inhaler make sure in gym bag
  • If carry epipen don’t leave in locker during lunch

SCHOOL DRUG POLICY

  • Policy Code: 4325 Drugs and Alcohol Unauthorized or illegal drugs and alcohol are a threat to safe

and orderly schools and will not be tolerated. Students are prohibited from possessing, using, transmitting, selling or being under the influence of any of the following substances:

  • 1. narcotic drugs;

  • 2. hallucinogenic drugs;

  • 3. amphetamines;

  • 4. barbiturates;

  • 5. marijuana or any other controlled substance listed in Chapter 90, Article 5 of the NC General

Statutes; –

  • 6. cannabinoid (CBD), or any substance containing CBD, including CBD oils;

  • 7. synthetic stimulants, such as MDPV and mephedrone (e.g., “bath salts”), and synthetic

cannabinoids (e.g.,“Black Diamond”, “Black Magic” “Spice,” “K2”); –

  • 8. any alcoholic beverage, malt beverage or fortified wine or other intoxicating liquor; or

  • 9. any chemicals, substances, or products procured or used with the intention of bringing about or

mimicking a state of exhilaration or euphoria or of otherwise altering the student’s mood or behavior. –

  • 10. Students are prohibited from possessing, using, transmitting or selling or counterfeit (fake) drugs.

ILLNESS AND ABSENCES GOING HOME SICK

  • If a student has had a fever (100.4 or greater) must be fever

free (without medication) for 24 hours

  • If student has been vomiting or diarrhea must stay home 24

hours after stopping

  • If student is sick at school needs to come through the nurse to

go home, if student calls from cell or texts will not be excused absence if they go home

  • Need to make sure that information that we have on record is

accurate, when phone numbers change we need the updated information especially for an emergency situation

  • Please keep student home 24 hours after start of antibiotic

Monitor what your child is doing online via his/her social media account. Talk to your child about posting inappropriate comments, languages, and/or pictures. Remind your child that whatever is posted on the Internet stays there forever.
