  2. LEGAL STATUS AND LOCATION • GIE-RO is a (national level) NGO created in 2002. • It has the main office in Piteşti, Romania, a city 114 Km N-W from Bucharest. • It has been created by staffs of the University of Piteşti – Romania… …a group of enthusiasts believing in a common future Europe! 2

MISSION To actively contribute to the integration process of European Union, through: • educational activities • professional training • cultural activities namely: • theoretical and field research in AE / LLL, VET • analysis and data processing • comparative studies • Development of strategies and methodologies for AE / LLL, VET 3

  4. OBJECTIVES (1) • To constitute an information base for those interested about EU fundamental concepts. • To be up-to-date with the current state of the European integration process (by permanently monitoring the interest indicators in the field of education, culture, political and socio-economical environment). • To initiate fundamental and/or applicative research activities, addressed to studying the processes that contribute to Romania’s European integration. 4

  5. OBJECTIVES (2) • To promote democracy and of human rights. • To develop collaboration with other organisations from Romania and from abroad for promoting the humanist values, the European values. • To disseminate the fundamental EU and universal values and concepts. 5
