35% Direct Deduction for

foreign productions*:

For the service company to carry out the foreign production (Feature, animation or documentary films, motion pictures and TV series)

  • 35% deduction of the production expenses in the Canary Islands
  • Minimum investment of €1 million on expenses directly related to productions in the

Canary Islands

a maximum of €50.000 per person

  • Expenses related to the Creative Crew expenses related to creative crew director,

scriptwriter, cinematographer, music composer, actors and other artists, chief editor, art director, sound manager, costume designer and key make-up and hair artists

  • Expenses related to suppliers and technical industries: executive producer,

line producer and production assistant, assistant directors, stage-manager, script supervisor, casting crew and casting director

  • A 40% allowance for the first million € and a 38% deduction for the rest of the

budget

  • A maximum deduction of €5.4 million on each production

  • At least a 50% of the production must be carried out in Spain
  • Requirements: the Spanish Nationality Film Certificate issued by the ICAA (Spanish

Requirements of the Canaries Audiovisual Work Certificate

− Spanish Nationality Film Certificate − At least two weeks shooting in the Canaries − In the case of a co-production, the Canary producer’s amount must be higher than

a 20% of the total cost of the Audiovisual Work

− Hiring local professionals: at least a chief of department, a lead or support actor

must live in the Canary Islands

− The production company must be based in the Canary Islands and entered in the

Canary Islands Registry Office of Audiovisual Companies
