Who are we?
We are a boutique translation agency based in Newquay, Cornwall in Southwest England. We specialise in marketing and corporate translation in German, French, English and Dutch. With a dedicated team of in-house translators and project managers who are native speakers of the languages they manage, complemented by a solid network of over 120 top-notch translators, we offer an extensive range of services including translation, copywriting, multilingual social media management and international SEO.
What is the Graduate Junior Translator Scheme?
Here at AJT we love to support recent translation graduates as they embark upon their journey into the translation market. That’s why we are one of the few translation agencies to
- ffer a Junior Translator Scheme, where we employ recent graduates, with little or no
professional translation experience, and give them their first break. We work closely with them and support them in every aspect of being a professional translator, working on real projects for some of the world’s best know brands. We recognise that, in this industry, gaining translation experience is paramount, and strongly believe that graduate translators should be fairly rewarded and supported in their work from the outset.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for translators who have recently completed their translation studies (BA or Masters) and are looking to gain their first experience as freelance translators in a supportive environment. We are excited to announce that we are opening up our graduate scheme to graduates with the following language combinations:
- English to German
(Germany, Austria, Switzerland)
- English to French
(France, Switzerland)
- English to Dutch
(Netherlands)
- German to English (UK)
- French to English (UK)
Why should you join our scheme?
- The opportunity to work with a
company that truly cares about your personal development and growth.
- Paid freelance translation work at our
junior rate, with a review of your per word rate after 6 months (and after you have translated at least 10,000 words).
- The opportunity to translate a variety of
live projects, from marketing texts to app translations, to e-commerce and B2B marketing texts.
- On-going support and constructive
written feedback from a team of experienced translation professionals and editors.
- Training on the use of CAT tools, such as
Smartling and Memsource, including one- to-one Skype sessions to answer any question you may have.
The process
Send your CV and cover letter to jobs@anjajonestranslation.co.uk quoting AJTJUN03 in the subject line. We will review your application, and if you are eligible for our scheme, we will email you our terms and conditions, which you will need to accept. Once you have accepted our terms and conditions, we will send you information about the rates we pay and a short, unpaid test translation (up to 500 words) to complete. We review your translation, and if you pass the test, we will invite you to join our Graduate Junior Translator Scheme. Once the first project becomes available, we will contact you to check your availability and assign you the work. We will invite you to a welcome webinar where we will show you the CAT tools we use, and where you can ask any questions you might have. We review your work and provide detailed feedback to you. We might have a Skype chat to go through the feedback in more detail. We will continue to assign you to suitable projects regularly, and continue to provide regular feedback. After six months (and after you have translated at least 10,000 words), we will conduct a final review, and if you are successful, we will invite you as a regular freelancer to our team. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
