Background
- Established in 1985 by Canada and the United States to
implement the Pacific Salmon Treaty (PST).
- Collectively, the panels and technical committees provide
recommendations on salmon management and fisheries under the PST to the Commission to help its overall guidance for implementing the PST.
- Canadian Membership on the panels includes multiple
interests: DFO, First Nations, the recreational and commercial sectors and environmental/community interests.
- Appointments made at 2 levels.
