Br Brief ef over ervie view w of th the e ND D Du Dual al Sen ensor sory y Project oject PD; five years of funding dependent upon satisfactory - Moved ed project ct to NDCPD performance - Federal al purpose ose of state e deaf f blind nd grants ts: The State Deaf-Blind Projects are designed to help State educational agencies (SEAs), Part C lead agencies (LAs), local educational agencies (LEAs) — including charter school LEAs, early intervention services (EIS) providers, teachers, service providers, and families to address the educational, related services, transitional, and early intervention needs of children who are deaf-blind. They are also designed to increase access to, and progress in, the general education curriculum and grade-level academic content standards for children who are deaf-blind and improve their communication skills with a goal of supporting lifelong learning, including postsecondary education and employment .

For the North Dakota Dual Sensory Project, this generally means that children ages birth through 21 would likely have documented vision and hearing losses with the following criteria: • Have documented hearing loss (mild to profound degree) and vision loss (low vision to legal blindness) • Have a diagnosed syndrome or pathology that impacts hearing and vision • Have multiple disabilities that impact central processing abilities as demonstrated by inconclusive vision and hearing responses during evaluations or in their natural environment
