What is the Youth in Action programme?

A collection of ‘Actions’ (projects) that aim to:

  • promote young people’s active citizenship in general and

their European citizenship in particular

  • contribute to the developing the quality of support

systems for youth activities and the capabilities of civil society organisations in the youth field

  • promote European cooperation in the youth field
  • Between 2007 – 2013 €885 million

Youth Exchanges

  • A project which brings together groups of

young people from two or more countries.

  • An opportunity for these young people to

discuss and confront various themes whilst learning about each others’ countries and cultures.

  • There are 3 phases to the activity –

planning and preparation, implementation

Becoming a Sending Organisation - Logistics

  • Role is to support young people before,

during and after their EVS placement

  • Arrange their pre-departure training
  • Organisations must be accredited
  • Process takes 3 months

Becoming A Host Project - Logistics

  • Organisation must be non-profit
  • Volunteer must have clearly defined role with a

variety of tasks and (non-formal) learning

  • pportunities
  • Full-time volunteering 35 hours per week

between 2-12 months

  • Can’t replace paid positions
  • Current UK priority is for 6-12 month placements

  • Some activities funded under Lifelong Learning Partnership will

disappear while others will be incorporated into the new system. Erasmus+ will fund 3 Key Actions: 1. Learning Mobility of Individuals 2. Co-operation for Innovation and Good Practices 3. Support for Policy Reform
