Bilbao Visit to Cape Town – March 2017 Knowledge immersion : World Design Capital Legacy o The Economic Areas Management Programme (ECAMP) o Digital City Strategy o Transit Oriented Development o Atlantis (suburb) Green Technology park – incentivised green manufacturing o cluster on vacant City-owned land. Field visits : Voortrekker Road Corridor - high potential development area o Old Biscuit Mill – Light industrial precinct rejuvenation o Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative – multi purpose tech incubator, o accelerator and skills training partner Victoria and Alfred Waterfront - revitalisation of a disused and degraded port o area 3

Cape Town Visit to Bilbao – November 2017 Knowledge immersion : Bilbao’s urban transformation process underlining that the cooperation o between different public administrations, through Bilbao Ria 2000, was critical to the success of Bilbao’s urban development. CIMUBISA (a municipal public entity), shared Bilbao’s Smart City Strategy o Bilbao Ekintza (municipal public entity) - Bilbao’s approach of boosting o economic and social development through knowledge sharing, innovation and creativity. Deusto - Katedra process and Methodology 360º works as a tool to help o understand and create solutions for urban challenges ZAWP (Zorrotzaurre Art Work in Progress) - artists and creative industries o programmes to generate positive social and economic change. Field visits : Coastal area: Sopelana beach, La Galea, Getxo and Las Arenas. At La o Galea the construction process of new port facilities , "Puente Colgante" (Transporter Bridge) a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Mount Artxanda IDOM International Consultancy o ZAWP (Zorrotzaurre Art Work in Progress) o 4
