Procedure- UV gel

Appropriate application of solution

  • Dip applicator into the UV gel.
  • Don’t use too much or too little! Using a circular

motion, make a dime size mark on the object using a small amount of gel.

  • Gel should be allowed to dry ten (10) minutes

before cleaning assessment.

Procedure- UV gel

  • Perform discharge cleaning.
  • Before patient is placed in cleaned room, use

a black light to assess removal of the gel:

  • Though complete removal of the gel is optimal

(best practice), partially cleaned marks on textured surfaces are counted as cleaned.

  • Document cleaning on the spreadsheet

Procedure- UV gel

  • Report monthly percent of rooms successfully

cleaned to Infection Prevention and Control and EVS manager.

  • Notify EVS managers of any HTS which
