OUR JOURNEY

Having started training to be an accountant at the age of 17, Nicola gained experience working for several accountancy firms, before starting to take on her own

• clients. During this time gaining her AAT and ACCA

qualifications in 2006 and 2011. Nicola launched Effective Accounting in 2008 with a passion to help small businesses and contractors that needed an approachable accountant offering a personal and flexible service. From the outset, her mum, Jill provided admin support. By 2014, the business was thriving and Nicola left her position at Avon to focus on Effective Accounting full-time. In 2015, Natalie joined the team full-time, and they moved into their first office. The following year, they moved again to a larger office in Beachampton. By the end of 2018, Effective Accounting was serving over 250 recurring clients - all paying monthly fixed fees.

We have over 300 clients and we know that they are individuals and have different wants and needs. Ultimately we, as their accountants, are here to make the money work for them and their families.

THE ROLE AND CAREER PROGRESSION

1st Year Apprentice Accounts Assistant Undertake and assist with bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations and processing of sales and purchase invoices Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and annual accounts for clients Liaise with clients and attend meetings where appropriate Maintain both electronic and physical copies of client records Build positive relationships with the team Answer the telephone and make calls to clients and other suppliers as required Promote the services of the business to clients and prospects Learn and live the mission and values of the business Learn and build experience on all software used within the business Progress towards Accounts Assistant, with a full development plan for career progression
