March 1, 2009 my world exploded

Zeb was 18 years old, a senior at LHNE, captain of football team, played basketball, track, was in speech, band, drama and very popular. He also suffered from anxiety his entire life.

Zeb was diagnosed manic depressive and borderline schizophrenic at the end of his life. He had 4 attempts before his final death. Was seeing a counselor and taking medication, but wouldn’t help himself manage his illness.

Always the class clown, he hid his struggle with humor. Numerous life events started him on his downward spiral from April 2008 to March 2009. Having a concussion that fall during football season truly changed his personality. Since losing my son, I have educated myself on prevention, intervention and postvention concerning the topic of suicide. Warning signs, behavioral clues, situational clues. Truly learning what this disease of depression was that killed my son.

  • journey. You CAN survive a death by suicide

in your life, but you can also THRIVE! My son is always with me and is at peace now.
