Behaviour code: • Participants must behave responsibly with respect for their team members, Leaders, the public and animals. . • Groups must understand and adhere to the Countryside Codes. • Behaviour in school is important, persistent patterns of poor behaviour could mean students are withdrawn from the programme • Abusive behaviour or bullying of any kind or failing to follow instructions will result in you being withdrawn from activities, persistent misbehaviour and you will asked to leave the trip immediately and excluded from any future activity! • Remember: Enjoy, Respect, Achieve

  4. The Sections  Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community. (Duration: 6 months)  Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities.  Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests. Physical and Skills. (Duration : one section for 6 months and the other for 3 months).  Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK.

  5. eDofE – sign off Bronze…..lots of you haven’t! • Fill in all sections of planner , with details of activities. • Make sure that you have an Assessor for each section – must be an adult • submit your award , with evidence and Assessors report. • Fill in expedition section with aims and who you gave your presentation to.

  6. DofE…. • For Silver if you haven’t got majority of Bronze complete you will have to start as a direct entrant taking part in the sections for longer. • With out sign off you wont get your Award • SO….! • Log-in as soon as you get your record book. • Fill in all sections of planner , with details of activities. • Make sure that you have an Assessor for each section. • After required time period, submit your award , with evidence and Assessors report.

  7. Application, Cost & Payments • Apply from Fri 13 September 2019, via the School Gateway. • Gateway will open from Fri 13 September to Sun 03 November 2019. • The application process will close midnight Sun 03 November 2019, with no applications be accepted there after for the 2020 season. • Payment of the deposit by the registration deadline will secure a place. • Costs • In the region of £150, to cover DofE Silver Registration , and all camping, transport, training and assessment costs. • 3 Scheduled payments • Deposit of £40 due 03 November 2019, followed by a payments of £60 due 29 February 2020 and a balance payment (t.b.c.) due by 30 April 2020.

  8. Programme Withdrawal • Withdrawals • Should you decide to withdraw from the programme. – Once registered, the DofE Registration cost of £22 is not refundable. – Other refunds are discretionary and will depend upon the time of withdrawal and specific circumstances.

  9. Schedule 2019 • 11September 2019 – DofE Bronze Programme Launch • By end of September • Information sent home about how to register, costs and schedule. • From 13/09/2019 to 03/11/2019 • Applications and payment via the School Gateway ( Applications Deadline midnight 03/11/2019) • Deposit payment (£40) by deadline secures a place. • September – October - November • DofE Registration ( Providing deposit received ). • Students complete planners, Welcome Packs posted home • November - December • eDofE Workshop. – During Tutor Time • Team Forming ( Own time ) ( Can be friends, but consider common fitness levels)

  10. Schedule 2020 • February/March • Mega- Mapping for the Practice Expedition – 3 hrs after school • Mega- Mapping for the Qualifying Expedition – 3hrs after school – Own time for route planning. (Maps/ route cards submitted 8 weeks before Expeditions) – eDofE Mapping ( Teams responsibility to submit maps and route cards to deadlines) • January – April • Night Navigation ( Alice Holt) Fri 13 March 2020 (t.b.c.) • Training Sessions ( Various topics) – 1 hr after school or/and information emailed home. • Information on Outdoor Education website, with some home study and task completion required. • Full schedule to be advised. • February 2 nd Payment (£60 by 29 February 2020) • • March • Practice Expedition ( Ashdown Forest) Fri 20 to Sun 22 March (Confirmed dates) • April • Final Payment (£ t.b.c.) by 30 April 2020) • GCSE Examinations & School Prom. • July – Qualifying Expedition ( Dartmoor) Thu 2 – Sun 5 July (Confirmed dates)

The Expeditions Level Duration Minimum hours of planned activity each day Silver 3 days and 2 nights A least 7 hours during the daytime (at least 3 ½ of which must be spent journeying Practice – The Ashdown Forest Expedition : Fri 20 – Sun 22 March 2020 (t.b.c) 3 days/2 nights at campsites. Qualifying – Dartmoor Travel & acclimatisation Day - Thu 2 July 2020 (t.b.c) Expedition : Fri 3 to Sun 5 July 2019 3 days/2 nights at campsite/wild camp.

Go to : http://www.bohunt.hants.sch.uk/faculty-areas/it-computing/outdoor-education/ When necessary we will send Letters Home via Schoolcoms, and use the Monthly School Bulletin We will also hold information meetings when required.

We will also hold information meetings/briefings when required, during tutor time and/or afterschool Training will be delivered by a mix of practical afterschool sessions and information available on the Outdoor Education Website.

  14. DofE Leaders/Trainers • Could you be a leader or trainer? – Help with the delivery of afterschool training. – Help with supervision of Expeditions. • Evening training course on DofE /DBS Check/Bohunt Safeguarding Course • Navigation Training on the South Downs - OPTIONAL • Extensive Outdoor Weekend expedition training course in the Peak District in April 2020 • Opportunities to develop first aid and other outdoor qualifications. • If interested!
