The ability of blue light to destroy microbes is based on its ability to energize naturally light-sensitive compounds inside the micro-organism, so that they start producing reactive oxygen radicals. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are molecules containing a very reactive oxygen, causing the bacteria to damage ja destroy internally.

1. Airborne bacteria attach to the surface. 2. Bacteria starts to grow and divide, forming a dense cellular layer. 3. While growing, the bacteria produce mucus and extracellular substances that form an outer protective nourishing layer. 4. The bacteria continue to grow and divide, protected by the film. 5. If the biofilm breaks, bacteria are released back to the air. Research evidence shows that blue light is very effective even on bacteria inside biofilm, unlike common biocides.

ANTiBAC – white light with antimicrobic effect

In spring 2018, laboratory tests were conducted at the Turku University of Applied Sciences to determine the efficiency of LED Tailor’s ANTiBAC light in the inactivation of Escherichia coli. The bacteria were plated on agar and irradiated at an intensity corresponding to standard office lighting (500 lux). The results were confirmed by conducting three separate tests, with each test utilizing three parallel samples from each point

WiSDOM AiR – blue disinfection light

In spring 2018, laboratory tests were conducted at the Turku University of Applied Sciences to determine the efficiency of LED Tailor’s WiSDOM AiR light in the inactivation of Escherichia coli. The bacteria were plated on agar and irradiated at a low intensity (0,7mW/cm2). The results were confirmed by conducting three separate tests, with each test utilizing three parallel samples from each point of analysis.
