– experts in the delivery of local employment, skills, training and business support services which improve the productivity of individuals and businesses and boost local economies

  • We have been delivering Skills Support for the Workforce programmes across England since 2016 and

have supported more than 20,000 individuals and 7000 businesses to access and benefit from funded training to date

  • This is the 3rd round of Skills Support for the Workforce funding (2019-2021) that we are proud to be

delivering in 16 regions of England, including Dorset.

  • Serco manages the Skills Support for the Workforce programme in partnership with the Local

Enterprise Partnership in each region and aligned to their local priorities

Overview of SSW/SSR

  • Skills Support for the Workforce/Redundancy is an ESF/ESFA co-financed contract
  • The Skills Support for the Workforce programme is funded under Investment

Priority 2.1 (enhancing equal access to lifelong learning).

  • This focuses on improving the skills of individuals to meet their goals and the needs
  • f the local economy; primarily training, advising or supporting individuals

including those in work but at risk due to skills deficiencies or redundancy.

  • Delivery runs April 2019 – July 2021 (with option of extension subject to

performance and available funding to Dec 2023)

Eligibility - Skills Support for the Workforce

SSW focuses on small and medium sized businesses (less than 250 employees) based within the Heart of the South West LEP area Individuals taking up funded training**through SSW must be:

  • Legally resident in the UK

  • Aged 16 or above
  • Training must be delivered within the LEP area
  • **other eligibility criteria may apply
