  • DO come to an advising appointment prepared (questions, copy of degree evaluation, tentative schedule of classes).
  • DO come on time.
  • DO silence your phone.
  • DO phone or email the advisor if you must reschedule.
  • DON'T wear headphones or earphones.
  • Remove your hat.
  • DON'T wear sunglasses.
  • DON'T text or take personal phone calls.
  • DON'T bring your best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, or parent with you (prior notification is preferred).

Probation

  • Students will be placed on probation if they meet any of the following:
  • Overall GPA falls below a 2.0 and the grade point deficit is not greater than 10
  • Semester GPA falls below a 2.0 and the semester grade point deficit is not greater than 10
  • Students will receive a departmental block/dismissal letter* and they will have a hold placed on their

account if they meet any of the following:

  • Fail to meet previous probation terms
  • Cumulative/Overall GPA falls 10 or more grade points below a 2.0
  • Semester GPA falls 10 or more grade points below a 2.0
  • *Depending on the circumstances of the block, students may be allowed to appeal, but there is NO

guarantee that the appeal will be granted.

  • Students will receive a permanent block letter and they will have a hold placed on their account if they

meet any of the following:

  • Appealed a previous block, were allowed one additional semester, & didn’t meet probation terms
  • Have attempted and not passed a course with a “C” or better on the 3rd attempt
  • Repeatedly fail to meet satisfactory academic progress (SAP)
  • Find themselves on probation (semester or overall) more than 3 times (not consecutively)

  • Howdy -> My Record tab -> Search Class Schedule (or registration button)
  • Use the Registration Worksheet to build a class schedule prior to registration
  • Registration begins at 2:30pm (freshmen) and 2pm (transfers)
  • Accept that you might have to have Friday classes, 8 am classes, night labs,

etc.

  • If you are not honors eligible, DO NOT build a schedule with a 200 section –

these are for honors students only.

  • Check EACH course restriction/details to verify that you have the correct

criteria to enroll in that particular section (majors only, U1/U2, etc).
