  1. Contractor Orientation Basics • Know your CSU Point of Contact. • Keep your Contractor Badge on you and visible at all times. • Refer to the back of your Contractor Badge for important phone numbers and the link for CSU’s list of standards .

  2. Contractor Orientation Basics Out of respect for others and the environment, Cleveland State University has adopted a tobacco free campus policy that went into effect at the start of the 2013 fall semester.

  3. Parking at CSU All vehicles on University property must adhere to CSU Parking regulations. Contractors parking on campus can: • Park at a meter • Obtain a Parking pass with an expiration date for $50 per week • Obtain daily parking passes to fit parking needs

  4. Parking Prohibitions • Under the overhang of the • Pedestrian sidewalks in Berkman Hall building front of Rhodes Tower • Sidewalks / Plazas • Any grass area • Loading Docks • Police, Parking, or CSU Service Vehicle • Aisle ways / Driveways designated spaces • East 24th Street in front of • Along curbs Fenn Tower • Any other areas not • The “No Parking” area on marked as a parking space north side of Fenn Tower

  5. Dashboard Passes • Contractors who must park in any prohibited location may request an official dashboard pass. • The request must be accompanied by details regarding the specific nature of their duties. • Dashboard passes must be displayed in tandem with a valid CSU parking pass and are intended for short-term use related to the defined duties.

  6. Access Control & Security Systems Access Control must first approve all work in areas that contain: Fire/Electronic Access Control/Intrusion Detection/ or CCTV equipment These areas include: • Automatic sprinkler work • Audible and visual fire devices • Fire pumps • Key boxes • Fiber optic loop • CSU cores • Hot Works/Electrical live work • Electronic access readers • Tar/kettle pots • Keypads • All panels and wiring • Panic buttons • Heat/Smoke/Motion detectors • Area of rescue assistance • Putting fire system into TEST • Servers MODE • Fire Extinguishers • Cameras and recorders

  7. Access to Buildings Your work on campus may require access to areas: • outside of normal business hours • during closures or University holidays, or • that are kept secure If access is needed, your CSU Point of Contact can request access for you via the Keybox Access Request Form found on the Access Control webpage.

  8. FACILITIES • Prior to beginning work, written authorization must be obtained from CSU Facilities Director or a Facilities Manager/Supervisor for following purposes: 1. Use of CSU-owned equipment and tools. 2. Use or Modification of Existing Building Computer Systems such as Johnson Controls, PowerLogic, Foreseer. 3. Use or Modification of Existing Building Infrastructure i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing or Structure.

  9. FACILITIES • During Construction, all materials and tools shall only be stored in a designated area as determined for the project. Materials and Tools found outside of these approved areas shall be deemed CSU property and will be handled accordingly. • After Construction, all materials and tools shall be removed from CSU property. Items left behind will be considered abandoned and will become CSU property. • Attic Stock shall be delivered to Plant Services Loading Dock with prior approval from Facilities Director.

  10. FACILITIES (Electrical) • Appropriate codes and safety standards shall be followed with respect to electrical work on campus. These include but are not limited to NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA. • No “Energized Work’ shall be performed on CSU campus. Under special circumstances, if it is determined that “Energized Work” is required, proper authorization and paper work will be approved only by the CSU Facilities Electrical Engineer. Appropriate Advance Notice and plan of action will be required.

  11. Accidents In the event of a work related accident or illness, you must: • Seek medical attention • Notify your employer/supervisor • Notify CSU’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety (216)-687-9306

  12. Hazardous Material on Campus • Asbestos • Applicable standards and codes including but not limited to • Mercury OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and other local codes defined by • Chemicals Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) should be followed and • Paints and Solvents adhered to. • All renovations or demolitions involving hazardous material Report emergencies involving hazardous materials to Campus Police by dialing 9-1-1 have to be approved by the (ask for CSU police) or by dialing 216-687- Project Manager. 2020.

  13.
