PILOT Program

  • Boston University was the first educational institution

in the City of Boston to make voluntary payments in lieu of taxes, or “PILOT” payments, to help cover the cost of providing essential services, such as police, fire, and snow removal.

  • Since 2003, Boston University has contributed:
  • $41.7 million in real estate property taxes and

linkage payments

  • $38.5 million in PILOT payments
