• The Climate Adaptation Strategy 2019-2024
• first Implementation Plan will be prepared within 3 months of the

adoption of the strategy.

• The strategy was adopted on the 9th September 2019.
• The first Implementation Plan should be completed by 9th December

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

• Climate Adaptation Monitoring Group (“Monitoring Group”) to be

established as a sub-committee of the Climate Change, Environment and Recreation Strategic Policy Committee (“the SPC”).

• The Monitoring Group to comprise of four Elected Members nominated

from the SPC, three Sectoral Members nominated from the SPC and Officials from the Executive.

• The remit of the Monitoring Group to make recommendations to the

SPC on policy related to Climate Adaptation and any Amendments to the Galway City Council’s Climate Adaptation Strategy 2019-2024 (“the Strategy”) adopted by Galway City Council on 9th September 2019

CLIMATE ADAPTATION MONITORING GROUP - PROPOSAL

• The Monitoring Group to meet Quarterly.
• The Monitoring Group to receive Quarterly Reports from the Climate

Adaptation Implementation Group on progress on the implementation

• f the Strategy.
• The Monitoring Group to receive, as required, presentations from

Climate Experts, the Climate Action Regional Office, State Agencies, Public Bodies (including other local authorities) and Utility Providers on the topic of Climate Change, the National Adaptation Framework, Sectoral Adaptation Plans and other Local Authorities’ Adaptation Strategies.
