What Is An Archetype? “ Ancient patterns of personality, that are the shared heritage of the human race .” (Vogler and Montez, 2007) “ The archetypes can be thought of as masks, worn by the characters temporarily as they are needed to advance the story.” (Vogler and Montez, 2007)

Archetypes Two questions are helpful for a writer trying to identify the nature of an archetype: I) What psychological function or part of the personality does it represent?
