Recommendations

  • 1. Continue school health and pediatric myalgic encephalomyelitis and chronic fatigue

syndrome(ME/CFS) educational initiatives as recommended during January 12-13, 2017 in person CFSAC meeting.

  • The Pediatric Education workgroup will continue in 2018.
  • The last meeting of the workgroup was held on May 14, 2018.
  • 2. CFSAC endorses the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic

Encephalomyelitis proposal for changes to the International Classification of Diseases- 10-Clinical Modification coding for ME/CFS.

  • The Designated Federal Officer has been in contact with CDC’s National Center for Health

Statistics (NCHS). They are working on the best approach to address this recommendation.

  • This process is not solely driven by NCHS. NCHS must consult with clinical groups and other

stakeholders, and work with the World Health Organization in order to change or assign a new code for any condition.
