  2. Pre-season Responsibilities Physical examination: must be completed & paperwork submitted to the athletic director prior to try-outs. Im ImPACT testing : students playing a “contact” sport must complete a baseline test.

  3. Daily Participation Arrival ti time: You must be in school no later than 10:30 am in order to participate in athletics after school. Tardiness: You must be on time to school and class every day – chronic tardiness is not allowed.

  4. Parents & Driving If your parents are picking you up from an away competition, a note must be submitted to your coach or the athletic director’s office with at least 24 hours notice.

  5. Uniforms ① Take good care of your uniform – it is school property! ② Wash it regularly. ③ Bring it to every game. ④ Return it in good condition. *If you do not return your uniform in good condition, you will have to pay for it to be replaced.

  6. Locker Room Security  Do not leave personal items out in the open.  Players should not be in the locker room unsupervised.  If the locker room is locked, please report to the front office or find your coach.

  7. Behavioral Expectations  As a student-athlete, we expect you to be a model citizen in school, as well as on and off the field of play.  Coaches will communicate with classroom teachers about behavior in class. CBSD Code of Conduct Policy #122

  8. Academic Eligibility Grades are evaluated every 2 weeks during the season  Students with one or more F’s during any two week period will be ineligible for the following two-week period.  Students with two or more D’s during any two -week period will be given a warning requiring improvement of their academic standing or they risk ineligibility.

  9. Teambuilding  Team Build ildin ing: activities designed to enhance task and social cohesion, enhance success by minimizing conflict and create a healthy team cu cult lture. Team building activities can be fun or developmental in nature.  Coh ohesion is the tendency of a group to stick together and remain united while pursuing goals and objectives (Carron et al.; 1998).  Cultu lture is the expression of a team’s values, attitudes, and beliefs about sports and competition (Taylor; 2013).  Example les of of Pos ositive Team Build ildin ing Act ctivitie ies: team din inners, movie ie nig ights, ropes courses, whit itewater raftin ing, g, cam amping trip trips, kar araoke, team ch challe llenges, problem so solv lving act activitie ies, etc.

  10. Hazing Haz azing is defined as any activity that recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental health, physical health or safety of a student for the purpose of initiation or membership in or affiliation with any organization (CBSD Board Policy 247). Haz azing by definition is an activity where a high-status member orders other members to engage in or suggests that they engage in behavior that in some way humbles a newcomer who lacks the power to resist because s/he wants to gain admission into a group (http://hazing.hanknuwer.com/).  End Endangeri ring mental he health shall include forced conduct which may result in extreme embarrassment, or any other forced activity which could adversely affect the mental health or dignity of the individual.  Any hazing activity, whether by an individual or a group, shall be presumed to be a forced activity, even if a a stud tudent t willingly part participates.  Haz azing is ag against the the law! The Pennsylvania anti-hazing bill, passed in the summer of 2016, states middle and high school students involved in the hazing of peers can be criminally charged. It is that serious!   11. Concussions IM IMPACT CT TE TESTING Athletes that participate in a contact sport must take a baseli line concussio ion test before the start of the season.

  12. Open-door Policy If you have a question/concern during the year:  Talk to your coach;  Talk to the ath thletic dir irector;  Talk to your guidance counselor;  Talk to your assistant principal or pri rincipal.
