  2. What is Cameroon Catalyst? • Founded in 2009 by Civil Engineering students • October 2009: Joint venture between Cameroon Catalyst and the Mosame Trust formed. • First project completed in 2010.

What We Do Work with the village to decide on relevant projects Design to design in the university Raise funds in Southampton and the rest of the UK. • Campus activities e.g. Cake sales, sponsored dancing Fundraise • Partnering with local schools • Individual Sponsorship Build Visit Cameroon and hand the project over officially.

  5. Who are we helping • “Cameroon” • 22.25 million people

  6. Who are we helping • Bambouti, Mbelle Mbeke, Tongo, Guiwa • Combined population of about 20,000 • Population to be supplied with water between 600- 1000

  7. Our Region • Location: Eastern Cameroon • First year of operation outside Bambouti (population 800) • Sits on a major pan-African road. • Distance to nearest town: 100km

  8. Past Projects: The Medical Centre January Hope Medical Centre – Completed 2010 Reduction in child mortality from 40% to less than 5%

  9. Past Projects: The Workshop Papa Gaspard Workshop - Completed June 2011 • Education opportunities for people leaving school

  10. Past Projects: The School . Primary School – Completed 2012 • Pass rates have increased from 20% up to 75% in 2014 • Attendance up from 45% to 85%

  11. Past Projects: Electrification Solar Power Hub – Completed 2013 • Provided affordable electricity to village • Microbusinesses formed • Storage of vaccinations at the hospital

  12. Past Projects: Mud Brick House Nurse Accommodation – Completed 2014 • Accommodation for nursing staff has improved opening of health centre

How Charity Operates • Members get assigned to different parts of the charity based on interests: • Fundraising Events • Grants • Design Team • Media & PR • Whole team meet fortnightly. • Groups meet up most weeks to discuss their individual section • Everyone in the charity is expected to get involved in helping out with fundraising events, even if you haven’t planned them. • Expected for people to participate in one personal fundraising event a year (marathon, bike ride etc.)
