The purpose of our projects was to bring back the true meaning of love to Valentine’s Day. We came up with the idea of “Buy a Heart, Give a Heart,” when we found out that a special needs student at our school names Maria Rodriguez would be getting heart surgery in March.
Maria is a sophomore at Centennial High School. She is a CBI (Community Based instruction)/ Special Needs student. Though she suffers from a disability, that does not stop her personality from shining through. Her singing can be heard from down the halls, and she’s never shy when showing off her dance moves. She can brighten your day with her smile and her ability to make you feel better is unmatched.
All items were purchased from the Dollar Tree and put together and decorated by hand to make them special!

We had samples of what we’re selling and set up a station in the doors before the lunch room on Monday 2/11/19 to advertise our product as well as take
personally picking up the product or if they want to us to deliver it to the recipients class on Valentines Day. On Thursday 1/14/19 we stood outside the bus doors in the morning to give the
deliver it themselves and during first and second period we plan to distribute the orders that were purchased for
lunch on Valentine's Day.
We encountered a few difficulties while working on this project. It was hard to meet together, and discuss different ideas we had for this project due to our different schedules. This is where we had to learn to work together, and really communicate to get things done in an efficient way.
We were able to successfully sell out of all of our gifts and nearly tripled our investment of $35 to $100, through our sales and
continue to remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Through our project we combined everything we learned throughout our entire experience at C5. It took leadership and dedication to continue to work on this project through our difficulties and busy schedules. Ultimately it was the teamwork and compromisation skills we learned in C5 that helped us to become
push ourselves and benefit our community in the future.
