Outreach (M&O) Commission attended an Ethics Seminar on Hunger. Presenter Jeremy Everett, Texas Hunger Initiative, Baylor University, inspired her with his call to end to hunger in Texas

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Summer 2015: M&O Commission decided to present

idea of creating a coalition to end hunger in Burnet County to our Rector and Associate Priest

  • Summer 2015: Rector authorized M&O members to

present idea to church members, including Vestry

  • Summer 2015: Church members supported exploration
  • f Trinity’s becoming the catalyst to build a hunger

coalition

  • Summer 2015-March 2016: M&O members developed relationships

with staff of Texas Hunger Initiative and Episcopal Health Foundation to build knowledge base

  • These two external relationships led to Currency of Truth and

Currency of Gracious Leadership

  • March-June 2016: M&O members developed relationships with
  • ver 40 potential members of a coalition to end hunger
  • March-June 2016: Our Rector invited clergy from a wide range of

denominations and non-denominational churches to participate in the coalition

  • June 2016: Trinity members identified a facilitator, not a member
  • f Trinity, to lead the group initially.

  • July 2016: First meeting of group that named itself “Burnet County

Hunger Alliance”

  • July –November 2016: Alliance facilitator built website, members

created social media presence, members decided upon the scope of activities and planned first activity

  • Last Week of December 2016: Alliance sponsored 2 community

meals

  • January- May 2017: Alliance planned and implemented groceries to

go program to provide groceries to home-bound people

  • March 2017: Trinity leaders and 2 alliance members attended Holy

Currencies training

  • August 2017: Alliance brought 2 school districts together to

conduct survey to find out why students did not come for summer meals
