 Renewal SA is committed to

providing housing that is both affordable and sustainable - socially and environmentally

 A suite of design guidelines,

applicable to all types of residential construction (both rental and affordable) have been developed to achieve this

 The guidelines represent more

than seventy years of SAHT, and Renewal SA experience in providing affordable and rental housing to South Australians

Design Guidelines

Richard St ranger

slide-14
SLIDE 14

Key Objectives:

 Maintain minimum

standards particularly as dwelling density increases

 New housing development

should contribute to an

  • verall improvement in the

character and amenity of the neighbourhood

 Public housing should be

indistinguishable from new private sector housing

 Ensure ease of maintenance

Dev evel elopmen ent Approval P Proces ess

  • The State C
  • ordinator-General (SC

G) and the Development Assessment C

  • mmission (DAC

) have been appointed as the relevant bodies to accelerate the planning and development approval processes for the Renewing our Streets and Suburbs program.

  • The SC

G has the power to issue an approval from the requirement to

  • btain Development Plan consent (planning exemption).
  • Once the SC

G has approved a proposal, DAC becomes the relevant for the issue of Development Approval.

  • This process includes a planning exemption for both:
  • Built form proposals; and
  • Land division proposals.
slide-20
SLIDE 20

Planning Approval

Pat rick Mit chell

Application and approval process facilitated by Renewal SA

 In most forms of tendering, Renewal SA will have already obtained

planning exemption.

 If the above does not apply, builders will forward 2 x copies of

their planning application to Renewal SA for review. If satisfactory, Renewal SA will forward it to the SCG for exemption.

 Once SCG approval has been issued, Renewal SA will notify

Builders

slide-21
SLIDE 21

Planning Approval

Pat rick Mit chell

Application and approval process facilitated by Renewal SA

 Builders will then obtain Building Rules Consent (BRC) with their

  • wn private certifier.

 Once BRC is granted, Builders submit copies of BRC to Renewal SA

who will forward to DAC for issue of Development Approval

 Renewal SA will notify once Development Approval has been

issued.

An Economic Development Commitment with work experience and paid employment positions is included within the RFT These opportunities are established by the Works Program team in consultation with the Project teams and are dependant on the scope and duration of works. During the tender process if interested parties would like more information on the Economic Development clause T&E Manager and Coordinator can discuss this with them.

Once the contract is awarded The Works Program Coordinator:

  • Meets with successful contractor to understand their

business requirements and timeframes.

  • Coordinates work experience placement for the

contractor:

  • Candidates sourced and resumes provided to the

contractor for selection.

  • Insurance cover organised for placement and

evidence of any required licences, tickets, qualifications provided. Candidates are sourced from a variety of sources. Work Experience participants can be placed with the successful tenderer’s sub-contractor

slide-90

Sam Wilson What ’s in it for t he cont ract or?

The sourcing, screening and selection of participants is completed for you; Work experience placements help participants and job seekers to recognise and achieve their potential; Contractor able to trial and recruit employees at no cost; and Participation in this social inclusion program provides evidence of the contractor’s commitment to social inclusion for inclusion in future tender proposals.
