proposals for growth and technology Aims and Objectives The Alexander Research Center is a reality since early 2015. Its objectives are: The promotion of research, innovation and critical study in connection with the educational mission of Alexander College, the general conditions of Cyprus and Europe, The dedication in the fields of economy, sustainable development, law, arts and culture, education, information technology, international and European relations and cooperation between the Cypriot communities. Conducting studies and research, seminars, conferences, symposiums, conferences, training, publications, partnerships and collaborations with other organizations to promote the above objectives, The promotion of interdisciplinary research, cooperation among peers and other institutions, academics and generally people of letters and arts, The rational management and finding of financial resources to support the objectives and particular finding, acceptance and management

The Board of Directors is supported by a Scientific Council Scientific Council The Board appoints the Scientific Council (SC) The Scientific Council advises the Board and provides for scientific support with relation to the aims of the ALEXANDER College Research Center. The SC consists of academics of the College in
  • ne part and of other academics on the other
part. Its composition reflects pluralism and main features of the College and of its pathways and shall be capable of promoting the interconnection of research with the College and society in general. It also aims at contributing to the development of research culture in the city of Larnaca. Members of the SC must be able to contribute to the goals of the RC at the expense of at least a small portion of their time; to conduct studies and research; participate into projects of the RC not excluding future national or European projects under the aegis of the Research Promotion Foundation, Foundation for the Management of EU Lifelong Learning Programmes, ERASMUS+, National Authorities etc all under the coordination of the Board. The RC also organizes the presentation and publication of its work. Research projects may also make the best out the most capable and motivated of our students in correlation with the field under study. Furthermore, the RC connects research with the interests and important public issues of the city
  • f Larnaca. The Board finalizes each year a
roadmap of projects after consultation with the Scientific Council members. Moreover the RC shall cooperate with public and private entities for mutual interest reasons. Administrative stuff actively contributes to the realization of all responsibilities. In conclusion, the Alexander Research Center is a major project and also a challenge for the academic and administrative stuff. Major Accomplishments September 2015- Informal establishment of the Alexander Research Centre April 2016- Formal Establishment of the Alexander Research Centre March 2015/December 2016-Two funded researches on micro and very small enterprises in Larnaca

Cyprus in the framework of the EU regulations” September 2016- Participation in the design process of the research policy of the Alexander College and readiness to implement relevant guidelines. In 2017, Alexander Research Centre in cooperation with the Alexander College Student Union gained funding for two projects. A seminar on new approaches to youth entrepreneurship, titled WICS (Wisdom, Intelligence, Creativity-Synthesized) An environmental experience to unique Cypriot sites of historical and green value. Both projects were funded by the Cyprus Youth Organization and supported by the Larnaca Municipality, Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Craftsmen and Shopkeepers. For the WICS PROJECT, participants where digitally tested across their leadership skills in decision making and awarded a Certificate. Released a comparative survey on the implications of Malls over commercial town centres on behalf of POVEK Concluded research on Public Procurement collecting and analyzing data from the Audit Office of the Republic of Cyprus, the Treasury, the Tenders Review Authority and the Bar Association Supported top students to achieve grants for research (including awards from CYB) Pending Research Projects for 2018 include: Finalization of the Project “Legislation and Implementation of Public Procurement in Cyprus”, sponsored by the Larnaca and Famagusta Bar Association 3rd Annual Research on SMEs Growth and Technology (SMALLECONBIGVISION). An experimental Research Project on Social Media Impact on self-perception of Teenagers Student Research Committee projects for enhancing research climate and cooperation between academics and students Workshop with students on WICS for Leadership
