Background } ICD-to-MedDRA mappings are available (e.g. from UMLS Metathesaurus, OMOP or BioPortal) but the meaning of the alignment relation is not described: } Codes associated with the same UMLS concept (CUI) as possible “synonyms” may correspond to exact match terms, lexical variants, more granular terms… } Mappings poorly exploitable in an automatic way, } SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System) could be used to achieve quality mappings } Problem: Too many terms and ICD-to-MedDRA mappings to do the job manually } Solution: use rules to deduce automatically for ICD-to-MedDRA mappings available the appropriate SKOS mapping property.
