Zeus gets a headache and splits head open with an axe = Athena Zeus & Hera = Ares (war), Hephaestus (fire). . . Zeus & Demeter = Persephone (underworld) Zeus & Leto = Apollo (light), Artemis (hunt) Zeus & Maia = Hermes (messenger) Zeus & Dione = Aphrodite (love) Zeus & Semele = Dionysus (wine)

Aphrodite promised that "if you say I am the fairest, I will give you the most beautiful woman in the world." Helen (daughter of Zeus and Leda) who is married to the

King of Sparta - Menelaus- who made all of Helen's suitors swear that they would accept and DEFEND his marriage to Helen. Well, Aphrodite gives Helen to Paris. The Trojan men don't defend Menelaus. So, Menelaus goes to the Greeks. & Odysseus (from Ithaca) once was Helen's suitor. He acted crazy to avoid going to war. But he got busted. = Odysseys is fighting in the Trojan war.

He did.

Preface to The Odyssey at Troy (Trojans) vs. Achaeans (Greeks) end of Trojan War (10 years) siege of Troy Odysseus invents the Trojan horse He creeps out & opens the gates of Troy. Allowing the Acheans access to Troy. Bloody battle ensues. The Achaeans win. The Odyssey is what happens to Odysseus AFTER the Trojan war on his journey home.
