DISTANCE LEARNING - now is your time!!

It is extremely important that seniors engage and participate in distance learning…

  • If you were failing and/or at-risk for not graduating, you

can recover your grade during distance learning. Use this

  • pportunity!!!!
  • Especially those of you not passing as of March 13:

communicate with your teacher(s) and develop a plan to

  • pass. You can do it and they are here for you!!
  • Those who were passing as of March 13, use this distance

learning opportunity to improve your grade and prepare for your college courses and workplace readiness.

The Questions You Asked

  • If you have more questions, please check out the “FAQs” tab on

the Edison HS Class of 2020 page or submit a question on the “Ask a Question” tab.

WHAT ABOUT GRADUATION?

  • The June 1 graduation ceremony at George Mason is canceled.
  • We do not yet know what graduation will look like.

○ FCPS Leadership is working on this. ○ It may be virtual, in-person, or both (Please provide your input on the “Suggestions” tab of the Edison HS Class of 2020 page) ○ Safety comes first.

  • As soon as we know more information, we will share it with you.

○ The timeline is dependent on the pandemic, the Virginia Dept. of Education, and FCPS leadership.

SLIDE 14

WHAT ABOUT SENIOR DUES?

  • Senior Dues cover more than just graduation, including diplomas,

diploma covers, caps & gowns, and honor stoles and medals. Dues do not cover prom.

  • We don’t yet know about graduation, so we don’t yet know the costs

for what it will eventually be.

  • Once we know all of the costs, we will know how much senior dues

will end up being. ○ We will then refund the difference in dues to seniors. ○ All seniors still need to pay senior dues.

slide-15
SLIDE 15

WHAT ABOUT DIPLOMAS, CAPS & GOWNS, AND SUCH?

Seniors who are eligible to earn a diploma will receive their diplomas, diploma covers, caps & gowns, honor cords, stoles, and medals in the mail. ○ If you are not on track to graduate or are not sure, contact your counselor. NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE UP AND RECOVER YOUR GRADES. Distance learning will provide every student an opportunity to pass.

OTHER QUESTIONS ASKED

  • CAN EDISON HELP WITH ALL NIGHT GRAD PARTY (ANGP)?

○ ANGP is an independent event not officially connected to any

  • school. High school funds cannot be used to support ANGP.
  • WHAT ABOUT SENIOR EXAMS?

○ There are no final exams this year. USE DISTANCE LEARNING each week to improve your overall grade.

  • HOW/WHEN WILL SENIORS RETURN LAPTOPS

○ The Tech team is creating a plan. The plan will depend on the pandemic and safety.

slide-17
SLIDE 17
  • CAN MY SENIOR “RE-CLASS” AND GRADUATE NEXT YEAR

○ If a student has earned enough credits to qualify for a standard or advanced studies diploma, they may not repeat the school year.

  • WHAT ABOUT YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION?

○ Ms. Weiderhold and administration are working on how yearbooks are distributed...everything depends on what is safe. ○ Don’t forget to participate in the “Letter to My Fellow Graduates” contest (outlined on the “Main Info” page of the class site).

  • WHAT CAN WE DO TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND THE SENIOR

CLASS? ○ Give us your ideas on the “Suggestions” tab of the class Bb page.
