Introduction to the Options Appraisal Process

slide-14
SLIDE 14

What is an Options Appraisal?

  • Structured process to decide on the best way forward
  • Balances a range of factors – housing, social, health &

wellbeing, local environment, economic, planning, community and financial & deliverability

  • Typically tests 5-6 options, against a “do nothing” or “business

as usual” base case

  • Needs to take enough time to consider issues thoroughly but

also give people certainty on a decision / conclusion date

  • Carried out in line with government and GLA guidance
  • Intended only to indicate the best broad option; this will then

need to be worked up in detail in conjunction with local people
