There are three streams of content for the retreat at SMC: 1) Working on and presenting proposals 2) Further tools and skills for collaboration (implementation, decision making, commitments, accountability and conflict management and resolution) 3) Meditation, embodiment practice, and dialogue The latter two will be interwoven throughout Saturday and Sunday

Participants who are not submitting a grant proposal are encouraged to attend on Thursday and Friday to continue learning about collaboration and to assist
- thers; however if they wish
they can arrive on Friday before dinner
SLIDE 16 Grant Application Process
Friday, June 6th
- Participants work primarily with their
collaboration partners to finalize the PowerPoint, the one-page handout, and the section of the grant, “Project Background.”
- Printers, paper and projectors will be provided.
- Lenz Foundation staff and PI consultants will be
- n hand to assist in any way.
- If time, we will work in small “Peer Coaching
Groups” to get feedback from others.

Saturday, June 7th
- Depending on the number of grants, we will most
likely divide the total group into two working groups
- Each proposal team will have approximately 40
minutes to both present their proposal via PowerPoint and the one-page handout and get feedback from the group on how to “make it better still.” Assume a 20-minute presentation and 20 minutes of feedback
- The proposal team will then have time to rework
their presentation and documents.

Selection Committee
- Will meet Sunday from 5:00 – 9:30 PM and
will dialogue about the various grants and also fill out a numerical matrix, based on criteria from the Lenz Foundation and from Garrison. Grant recipients will be notified by the Lenz Foundation Board after the retreat.

1. Can only be given to 501(c)(3) organizations but partners may include others 2. Must further principles of Buddhism – mindfulness and meditation 3. Must benefit populations of North America (primarily the US) 4. Must be administered in accordance with financial and legal requirements of the Lenz Foundation (please see website for specifics) 5. Must include at least 2 organizations 6. Must include other funding sources (if not revenue neutral) 7. Must be willing to participate in soliciting additional funding for grant pool (with Lenz Board)
SLIDE 23 Logistics
- The bus leaves Denver International Airport (DIA) on
Thursday, June 5th at 3:00 PM for a 5:30 arrival at SMC. Please arrive at DIA by 2:00 PM or earlier
- The program ends at 4:00 PM on Sunday. Participants
can stay over Sunday evening or depart. A bus will depart for DIA at 4:30 PM, arriving at DIA at 7:00 PM.
- If you want to stay an additional night, please let the
Foundation know and arrange to pay the additional cost for housing and the shuttle on Monday.
- For those staying overnight on Sunday, a bus will
depart for DIA at 8 AM Monday. Arrival at DIA at 10:30 so probably no flights scheduled before 12:00 PM.
