Who we are
The organization of social work regulatory boards in all 50 states, D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and ten Canadian provinces. 1979 – Need for national exam Charitable purpose: Relieve burdens on governmental entities

7 1979: The American Association of State Social Work Boards (AASSWB) incorporated 1979 – 1997: membership grows from 12 states to 49, DC and VI
8 1998: Alberta is the 1st province to join ASWB 1999: new, more inclusive name − Association of Social Work Boards 2009: Newfoundland & Labrador is the 10th province to join
TODAY: ALL States and Provinces Regulate Social Work in some way
