Students completing the program will:

  • Demonstrate basic competency in financial and managerial accounting,

accounting systems, tax, auditing and governmental and not-for profit accounting.

  • Be able to use QuickBooks, Excel, and other related tools to perform

basic financial reports and management reports.

  • Will apply and utilize research skills to access, understand, and apply

relevant professional accounting guidance.

  • Have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain an entry-level

bookkeeping job, transfer to a four-year accounting program, and/or sit for the Certified Public Accounting examination should they meet all

  • 6 total outcomes, 2 assessed
  • SLO #1: Describe the role of accounting in business.
  • SLO #6: Demonstrate an ability to prepare basic financial statements and interpret

financial statement communications.

  • 8 sections offered, 6 sections assessed
  • The target goal for this assessment was 70% of students to achieve 70%
  • r better. This target was selected to ensure effectiveness of the

instruction in the course.

116A FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING:

  • Assessment Design:
  • Examination— free response, short-answer, journal entries, blank page

response, matching. Homework – multiple choice, free response

  • Results/Findings:
  • A total of 199 students were assigned the assessment thru 6 total
  • sections. A total of 182 students participated and completed the

assignments with distribution thru the 6 sections as follows:

  • 39 students completed with 70% or more achieving a score of 82% and above
  • 43 students completed with 70% or more achieving a score of 80% and above
  • 33 students completed with 70% or more achieving a score of 87% and above
  • 23 students completed with 70% or more achieving a score of 84% and above
  • 22 students completed with 70% or more achieving a score of 91% and above
  • 22 students completed with 70% or more achieving a score of 73% and above

  • No action is necessary. Students are exceeding target year
