What is A.I?

• A.I stands for Artificial Intelligence, a term that

means how a machine is programmed with commands that allows it to think and learn. Generally, A.I is often compared to human cognition but machines develops cognition differently from humans.

• The development of A.I since 1956 has

increased dramatically overtime and has significantly improved.

Examples of A.I

• Robots
• Self-driving vehicles
• Predictive technology/Algorithms (such as Netflix or

Youtube)

• Chess engines or other computer programs
• Bots in Video games (Computer-controlled players)
• GPS
• Certain Virtual Assistants (Google Assistant)

Types of A.I

• Reactive A.I- This type of A.I focuses on the decision being laid out in front of them and not based on

previous decisions or analysis. An example would be Deep Blue, a chess computer program which only choose the best moves.

• Theory of Mind A.I- This type of A.I that can change their behaviour based on emotions or people. It’s

relatively unexplored but has seen some progress in recent time.

• Limited Memory A.I- This type of A.I that uses their past decisions and memory as part of their process
• f learning. A good example would be self-driving cars.
• Self-Aware A.I- This artificial intelligence understands what they are and what is perceived besides
• them. While it seems unrealistic, it is still a possibility to exist as new technological advances are

discovered.

Significance?

• It allows our everyday lives to become easier

due to certain tools responding to our basic demands or needs.

• It is beneficial for companies as it allows them

to do actions that become much more efficient.

• It’s still a relatively growing and unexplored

field of technology so new breakthroughs are consistently being shown.

Future

• If a Self-Aware A.I is developed in the nearby future with some

restrictions on control, then possibly millions of jobs will be lost due to the requirements not being efficient on a human level. It can cause mass confusion and disruption as a result.

• Despite that, the future of A.I development has great benefits to what

it brings for the world. A.I robots for example are developing right now to take care of the elderly.
