Board and Committees

  • The MWSL operates under a board and committees.

○ Six officers have specified roles and emails they monitor related to their position. ○ At-large members support the board as a whole and help where needed. ○ All members have voting powers and serve at least a one year term.

  • Attendance and commitments are purposefully kept flexible as we are all

volunteers.

  • Focuses on the branding and promotion of the MWSL in order to provide a

meaningful experience for both current and new members.

  • Members recently refreshed the MWSL brand with a new logo, swag,

messaging, and other promotional items in late 2018.

  • Joining the MWSL Board or a committee is what you make of it. We have

tasks and on-going projects to fit nearly every level of time commitment and difficulty.

Summer Team Registration

Online Team Registration – Deadline: April 11th

  • Opens today March 14th
  • Register for the appropriate division
  • 11 v 11 format
  • Full team registration fee of $300 due upon registration
  • If you are a returning team, but with a new name, notify MWSL
  • Register your team by visiting www.mwsl.org and clicking on the registration

REMINDER

Make sure to register your team for the correct division based on the division description, not based on nights of play. The MWSL Board reserves the right to assign a team to a division.

Online Team Registration – Deadline: April 11th

  • Team fees and performance bond due...

○ May 1st for D2, D3, D4 and Rec ○ May 15th for D1

  • Failure to pay team fees charged by the league and performance bond by

deadline will result in a weekly late fee.

  • If payment is not received by first game, the team will be removed from the
  • schedule. Any games that take place during that time will be considered a

forfeit in the standings.

Summer Player Registration

Online Player Registration – Deadline: June 30th

  • Once the team is verified by the MWSL, managers are responsible for sending player

registration invites to their players via TeamConnect.

  • Each player must register under a team. You cannot register under a secondary team
  • r as a “free agent.”
  • Players must pay the $26 player fee during registration and upload an acceptable photo

for their player pass.

  • Players will not be permitted to play without registering and providing a photo for their

electronic player pass. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Looking for Players, Looking for a Team?

  • The MWSL Facebook page and Facebook group are great places to find

players for your team, or find a team looking for players.

  • The board can try and help reach out to connect players and teams, but that

is not always a guarantee.

Fees and Fines

  • Team Registration Fee: $300
  • Player Registration Fee: $26
  • Performance Bond: $300

○ Check with MWSL Treasurer to see if you’ve had money carry over from last summer

  • Fines:

○ Refer to the updated Fees and Fines document on our website ○ Fines are deducted from your performance bond. If your performance bond is depleted, teams have 7 days to replenish it, otherwise future games will be cancelled.

Scheduling Fields

  • MWSL will continue to schedule fields for teams unless you secure your own.

○ If the MWSL schedules your team a field, your team is responsible for the cost. ○ As soon as the schedule is completed, we send payment to the fields so your team is responsible for the cost regardless if you obtain other fields.

  • Teams may indicate preferences for home fields and we’ll try to make

accommodations where we can. No guarantees.

Reserving Your Own Fields

  • Alert the MWSL by April 11th if you are scheduling your own fields, as the

schedule will be made soon after.

  • Notify Field and Schedule Coordinator via email when you find fields.

○ Include team name, date of game, field location and number (if applicable), and address if the field is not currently used by the MWSL.

  • Need field information 2 weeks prior to your first game

Game Schedules

  • Schedules will be available near the end of April on our website and on your

TeamConnect page.

  • The MWSL cannot promise we will provide home games for dates you

reserve with your own fields ahead of the schedule being posted.

  • Bye Weeks (subject to change):

○ D1: July 13th and 15th for USA Cup ○ No byes 4th of July week (holiday lands on a Friday)

  • We may need to add additional byes due to field availability

Game Day Information

Weather, Forfeits, and Game Changes

  • If you must forfeit your game, make changes to it’s time or location, or

reschedule, email fields@mwsl.org and info@mwsl.org ASAP.

○ You are responsible of notifying the other team manager of said change, not the league. ○ Team manager contact information will be provided on the Contact page of our website

  • Fees of note:

○ If game is started, but cancelled by referee prior to halftime due to weather – $15/team ○ Team forfeit/changes game/or reschedules between 48 hours and noon on game day – $50 ○ Team forfeit/changes game/or reschedules afters noon on game day – $50 + full referee fee

  • All fines deducted from performance bonds. Do not pay fines at the field.
  • NO INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

○ We will post on social media and email teams as soon as we get word of a field closure

  • Player passes are now electronic

○ An appropriate photo must be uploaded ○ A second form of ID (such as a driver’s license) is no longer required on game day

Rosters

  • Only accurate rosters printed via TeamConnect will be accepted.
  • Only those listed as a coach have access to printing rosters.

○ It’s a good idea to designate a backup coach if the other can not print a roster for gameday.

  • For both 11v11 and 7v7 games, you may have an unlimited number of

guest players (added electronically via TeamConnect ahead of the game) on your roster. In addition, you may have a maximum of 4 write-ins (written in by hand at the field) on your roster. All players must have a valid MWSL pass.

Jewelry

  • ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY, NO EXCEPTIONS
  • FIFA regulation
  • Even ‘permanent’ jewelry is unacceptable. If the referees says it has to come
  • ut, it comes out or you do not play.

Injury Claims

  • If you get injured during a game, make sure the referee makes note in their

game report (even if you think you won’t need assistance)

  • Women’s over 30 tournament
  • September 12th-13th (4 games over Saturday and Sunday)
  • 11v11 & 7v7, outdoor games at the National Sports Center

○ 7v7 started in 2019; well received. More teams = better split of Rec/Comp

  • Cost around $35 per player depending on roster size
