What is CERT?

When emergencies happen, CERT members can

  • provide critical support to first responders,
  • offer immediate assistance to victims, and
  • organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site

How Might CERT Be Used?

During a disaster or emergency, CERT skills will initially be used for personal and family response. CERT skills can then be used to assist in your neighborhoods before responders arrive.

How Might CERT Be Used?

Following the arrival of emergency responders, CERT-trained individuals may support responder efforts or assist with necessary non-responder emergency response efforts. CERT individuals do not replace typical public safety

  • fficials – firefighters, EMS providers, or law

enforcement!

Why CERT?

Over 95% of the time, ordinary citizens like you are the first persons to respond to an emergency. Knowing what to do in a time of emergency can help save a person’s life.

total and includes those on Leave of Absence)

  • 28 hold dual CERT/SKYWARN Memberships
  • 5 have been members of CERT since inception in
