Key changes The School Certificate was abolished at the end of 2011 • The Record of School Achievement (RoSA) was • introduced as a cumulative record for all students in Years 10, 11 and 12 A RoSA is provided on request for any eligible student • who has left school from end of Year 10 up to and including the HSC Students can request a RoSA along with the HSC • credential

  6. Literacy & Numeracy Tests The tests provide an overview of a student’s level of • achievement on the literacy and numeracy skills required for employment and further education 2012 results were mapped to Levels 1, 2 and 3 of • Australian Core Skills Framework

Van – Year 10 Van is leaving school at the end of Year 10 to • commence an apprenticeship He has completed Year 10 and is eligible for the RoSA • Van sits the end-of-year optional literacy and numeracy • tests for school leavers, so he can present further information to his employers about his skills His school notified the Board via Schools Online that • Van was leaving school and his credentials are posted to him – Van is also able to see his achievements on Students Online and print an eRecord

Maria – Year 10 Maria completed Year 10 and is going on to Years 11 • and 12 She wants to print out her Year 10 results to assist in • finding a part time job over the school holidays Maria activates her Students Online account and • downloads and prints her Student eRecord She also puts together an online portfolio including • extra curricula activities using Up2Now.

Georgia – Year 11 Georgia is part way through Year 11 and decides to • leave school to pursue a full-time TAFE course She will receive a RoSA which lists the Stage 6 • Preliminary courses she has commenced and her Year 10 grades This document will also record the date of Georgia’s • withdrawal from school If she didn’t sit the first half of the year literacy and • numeracy tests, Georgia can return to her school and sit the tests later in the year

Explanatory material for schools Schools have been sent: a sample of the 2014 HSC Record of Achievement • Records of School Achievement for Stage 5 and Stage 6 • Preliminary students a Record of School Achievement for a Stage 6 student • who leaves during Year 12 and one for a student who completes the HSC student eRecords at various stages of a student’s • progress literacy and numeracy test results • an Up2Now report. •
