Quality Vocational Education Vocational Qualifications for 14 – 16 year olds • Hertford Regional College is working with schools to provide vocational programmes for year 10 & 11 students that are: one year in length on a part time basis over half day sessions each week based at either the Broxbourne or Ware campus. • Students can study any one programme in year 10 and/or year 11. Dependent on ability, students will study a Level 1 or 2 course. Students studying a Level 2 course must take a course over two years. • Progression: On completion of a Level 1 or 2 programme students can enrol at HRC onto a full time, higher level vocational programme after GCSEs.

  3. The Provision HRC currently offers courses in the following areas: • Construction • Hair & Beauty • Hair & Media Make-up • Health & Social Care/Child Care • Hospitality & Catering • Motor Vehicle

  4. Construction Construction courses are carried out at the Broxbourne Campus. Certifcate/Award/Diploma and Level 1: This gives skills in the construction industry including joinery skills, bricklaying, plastering, tiling, pipework and painting and decorating. Level 2 Diploma: this course expands on the knowledge base gained at Level 1. Duration: one year, half a day a week for level 1 and a second year to complete level 2.   5. Hair & Beauty Hair & Beauty is carried out at the Ware campus. Award or Certificate & Diploma Level 1 : This programme provides an ideal practical introduction to the industry to prepare for further learning & training. Designed to build on a learner’s interest & passion for Hair & Beauty. Level 2 Diploma:this course expands on the knowledge base gained at Level 1. Duration: one year, half a day a week.   6. Hairdressing & Media Make-up Hair & Media Make-up is carried out at the Ware campus. Level 1 Award/Certificate. These programmes look at the world of hairdressing and media make-up which is an exciting and interesting industry with many career paths to choose from. The programme of study will not only Provide an insight into both hairdressing and media make-up but will also develop vocational skills. Health & Social Care/ Childcare Health & Care carried out at the Broxbourne Campus Certificate & Diploma Level 1: This programme prepares learners for employment within the broad occupational area of Health & Social Care.   8. Hospitality & Catering Hospitality & Catering courses are carried out at the Broxbourne campus. Award & Certificate Level 1: This course involves planning and preparing meals where students learn at their own pace whilst gaining the skills required to work in a busy kitchen environment. Duration: one year, half a day a week.

  9. Motor Vehicle Motor Vehicle courses are carried out at the Broxbourne Campus. Entry Level 3 & Level 1 Award – These programme covers both practical sessions and classroom theory including maintenance & repair, motor vehicle safety, workshop tools and equipment.
