PROJECT LOCATION Existing one story brick building with basement was built in 1928 as Richmond County Isolation Hospital, with addition added in 1934. Reduced version of the Georgian Revival style designed by Sibley and Fetherston Architects. Historic district (New York City Farm Colony - Seaview Hospital Historic District) designated in 1985. Since 2014 existing building is housing Grace Foundation - nonprofit organization that holds classes and programs for children and adults on the autism spectrum. PROJECT SCOPE Exterior site work only, no interior alterations. Exterior foundation water-proofing around the entire building perimeter, addition of waterproof membrane and perforated footing drain to drain the excess ground water from the foundation. Removal of existing concrete road from Brielle Avenue into the hospital campus and construction of new asphalt drive, parking area with vehicle turn
- around. New concrete ADA complying ramps for staff
and parent parking and student drop off. 45 new, striped parking spaces to replace existing unstriped parking area for 8 cars. Parking would be directly accessible from Brielle Avenue using the existing entrance or from the vehicular network within Seaview. Widening of existing curb cut and addition of sliding gate, addition of parking access gate. New play area, new site lighting at play area and along new road and parking area. Soil removal, site regrading, and a stone retaining wall to provide proper pitch of the new road and parking area and a level play area. Replacement of damaged roof leaders. Additional chain link fence to match existing and separate the school from the rest of the hospital campus.
