Obesity is a chronic disease requiring long-term management.1-5 A number of professional associations have recognized obesity as a global health challenge requiring a “chronic disease management model,”1-5 including the World Health Organization, American Medical Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and The Obesity Society.1-4 Obesity is a complex multifactorial chronic disease that develops from an interaction of genotype and the environment.6,7 References
