4x4 Block Schedule at WGHS

  • This will be schedule all year
  • Students will take 4 classes at one time that will last

either one quarter of the year or one semester.

  • Year-long courses will be taught in a semester term,

semester courses in one quarter.

  • In-person classes would be approximately 90

minutes in length, each day.

slide-10
SLIDE 10

Benefits of 4x4 Block Schedule

  • Less stressful schedule with 4 instead of 7 courses for

students and stafg

  • Adapts to virtual, hybrid, and in-person modes of schooling
  • Ability to apply supports/resources for students in

concentrated number of classes

  • More time on independent or group task and less time in

transitions between classes

  • Greater ability to maintain stable groups and potential

contact tracing when in-person

Attendance

  • It is required that students participate in the scheduled live instruction K-12.

This experience will be a more interactive and collaborative environment where students can interact with the teacher and with each other regarding the content. Recordings of the live instruction will be posted to Canvas for students to review later for two reasons: ○ 1.) Students need to review the materials for a deeper understanding or questions they may have ○ 2.) Families, while attempting to do their best to attend live instruction, need the flexibility to view the live instruction at another time.

  • Students are expected to successfully complete all assignments and assessments

needed as part of the course work. Grades and credit will be based on the participation in live instruction/accessing the recording instruction and successful completion of these assignments and assessments.

Fall Athletics/Activities Information

  • The fall sports season is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 10.
  • At this time we are still working towards making a decision if our WGHS teams will be able to

start their seasons on Monday. As soon as a decision is made we will share it so that the coaches can communicate what their practice times would be.

  • If/when we are able to begin our fall seasons, please be assured that the
  • Any students that are planning to participate in a fall sport must contact the head coach of that

sport so that they can account for all of the students and place them in practice groups since we will be limited on the number of students we can have a practice at one time. If you have already been in contact with that coach over the summer you don’t need to do so again.
