Warm Greetings! It is my great pleasure to welcome all of you in this section. Indeed, I am grateful that you have chosen Environmental Science as your career path.

 The Environmental Science Section is a newly‐emerged

section of the Applied Science Department.

 The Ministry of Manpower approved the offering of

Environmental Science Program as a new specialization in the Department of Applied Sciences of Higher College of Technology in 2003.

 At present, the section has seven lecturers and

four technical support staff.

 The lecturers are staying in the following rooms;

M115, M116, M151, M217, M247

 The technicians are assigned in ES Dark Room

(M110), ES Project Lab (M111), ES Storage Room (M112), and ES Teaching Lab (M113).

 Apply scientific knowledge and technical skills that are

needed in Environmental Science laboratories and field studies.

 Follow and maintain safety rules and standard operating

procedures in the lab.

 Contribute

to the monitoring and management

• f

processes and activities that affect the environment.

 Identify the sources of pollutants and their environmental

impacts and suggest control mechanisms for them.

 Communicate, relate, and cooperate with people from

a range of background and expertise.

 Do quality and effective researches, suggest solutions

to environmental problems and issues, and make decisions that are anchored on critical thinking and analysis.

 Communicate through writing and presentation.  Appraise the ethical responsibilities of the practice of

environmental science.
