Just follow my instructions and you will experience the Rhineland as never before!” Document Received: “Introduction of The Interdimensional Trader’s Guide to the Rhineland!”
Sofia: “We are in Colonia Ulpia Traiana, one of the most important Roman border cities! Those Romans are - well, for you were - quite talented people and had left artefacts demonstrating their creativity and ingenuity. ” Document Received: “A Short History of Colonia Ulpia Traiana, by The Grumpy Bear !”
Sofia: “Our main objective here is to collect rare residual energies left by humans on artefacts. Since I have important meetings it’s up to you to find them.” Sofia: “I have a list of artefacts you need to find.”
Sofia: “In Colonia Ulpia Traiana finding the artefacts on the list is not enough.” Sofia: “Rome was one of the biggest empires in history. Empires run with complex trade networks and to understand the empire we have to understand its diversity.” Sofia: “Find out where the artefacts on your list came from. Sofia: “Trading is not only about objects, it’s about people. You need to sense what they need. You need to know the right people who can provide you with what you need.” Sofia: “Each trade hub such as this one has trading partners who can help us in our missions.” Document Received: “Trading Partners Chapter of The Interdimensional Trader’s Guide to the Rhineland!”
Sofia: “My main trading partner in Colonia Ulpia Traiana is the Grumpy Bear. He will help you.” Bear: “My Name is Grumpy Bear. I don’t like you but I will help you.”
Bear: “My friend the Painter has a problem with…” Sofia: “No need to bore my friend with local politics Bear!” Bear: “As you wish. Long story short he is not allowed to work and citizens of the city are not allowed to help him. But you are an outsider. Go and get him olive oil and wine. I’m sure that he will award you.” Mission activated: “Help the painter.”
Bear: “My friend the Painter wanted me to tell you that he is grateful and asked me to give you a share of his olive oil.” Sofia: “This would give us an idea token! But I’m sure he can give us more!” Bear: “You are greedy as usual Sofia. In any case, apparently before his disagreement with the..” Sofia: “Bear, no politics please!” Bear: “He was unable to finish a job he had. Go to the Boy Sculpture. If you can help him he will introduce you to very important people!” Mission activated: “Help the painter.” Mission activated: “Find the Boy Sculpture and help him.”
Sculpture Boy: “My walls need to be painted and decorated. First do the paint job. Then collect patterns from other artwork, and last create a combination of your own… You must be a very brave person to accept such a job requiring creativity...”
Sculpture Boy: “Thank you brave artist! You have filled my home with joy! As an award I shall introduce you to Capital Trios; the ruling gods of Rome. Find them and if you can prove yourself wise enough they shall award you with the richness!” Sofia: “That’s what I’ve been after! Find the gods, one of them shall test you. If you succeed we might gain access to great treasures!” Mission completed: “Find the Boy Sculpture and help him.” Mission activated: “Test of the ancient god.”
Bear: “Only one of the gods will talk to you. To find out which one, you shall wake up their animals and answer their question: “He asks, but never answers. Who is he?”
Bear: “It’s Minerva who has accepted to test you! Find her prove yourself!” Sofia: “Thank you Bear. I never thought we would come this far. You are taking great risks to help us!” Bear: “You helped my friends. My honor demands that I shall help you in kind. Now find Minerva.”
Minerva: “Answer my questions and I shall open the doors of knowledge of Colonia Ulpia Traiana. Question 1: “Do not speak and you will speak my name. Or do you need to speak? Again – a great miracle! – by speaking you will say my name.” Answer: Silence Question 2: “I am the black child of a bright father; a wingless bird, flying even to the clouds of heaven. I give birth to tears of mourning in pupils that meet me, and at once on my birth I am dissolved into air. Answer: Smoke Portal activated: “Kurhaus Kleve”
Minerva: “There is a dark shadow over this city. Only by revealing the truth you may overcome it. I have treasures for you, but they are broken and contaminated by lies. Seek the truth!” Bear: “Thank you goddess!” Sofia: “Look at these vestiges! But wait. I can recognize some of them. These are fake! You should find out which ones are the originals!”
Sofia: “This is what we have been searching for. The knowledge of Rome in our hands! We will be rich! But… oh no!”
Archivist Drone: “Your are accessing to high level creative and investigative activities. This is forbidden by the Archivist Code of 2005. The residual energy you have will be confiscated, you and your companions will be detained and prosecuted.” Sofia: “Well, no need to hide it from you anymore. What we have been doing is not considered legal by some authorities. They see it as smuggling. But don’t worry they can’t hurt you, directly, and I have covered all my track. They can’t confiscate anything.” Archivist Drone: “Using high level data surveillance tools we have confiscated all your points.” Sofia: “Damn!” Archivist Drone: “We seem to face difficulties locating you. But your accomplice is arrested. Please remain silent and wait for the law enforcers.” Document Received: “The Archivist Code”
Sofia: “They got the bear. We have to help him. He has been so nice to us. And, I expect that our treasure is locked with him.” Sofia: “Well, who can find a bear, better than a bear hunter!” Mission activated: “Save the bear”
Sofia: “They got the bear. Please help us to free him.” The bear hunter: “The bear is my friend. I will help you. But you need to find and make copies of they keys for the locks of his cell. Bring the key to me!” Document Received: “The Tale of my captor and my friend, by the Grumpy Bear”
The bear hunter: “The archivists move the bear constantly. But I have received a tip. Use the city plan to locate where the bear is. When you have found him. I will unlock his cell and you should make a run to the harbor!”
The bear hunter: “My friend! I was the one who had brought you to this city, it seems I will be the one to send you away; albeit this time unwillingly!” The bear: “I’m grateful to you all!” Sofia: “Ok, ok, the archivists are still out there and we have to take you and my freed goods to the barge!” Portal activated: “Open Air Museum”
The bear: “This is goodbye then…” Archivist drone: “Please remain where you are. Due to your unlawful activities you have been sentenced to death. I will execute you in a moment. Thank you for your cooperation.” The bear: “I will not be an easy target for you!”
Sofia: “Well that was an adventure! I have marked the locations of other trading hubs on your map. If you are not afraid of the archivists come and visit me in one of them. I assure you, it will be fun!”
