Challenged by high rates of unemployment, poverty, out-migration, illiteracy, inequality and discrimination in public affairs and lack access to health services. Research has demonstrated that:

• 75% of indigenous students’ families live on a

monthly income lower than $250 USD;

• 60% of students live at home and support

family incomes in agricultural activities .

• Indigenous students are interested in the future

economic and cultural development of their regions, but recognize the lack of opportunities.
