Elder Abuse is any action or inaction by a person(s) in a trusting relationship that jeopardizes the health or well being of any older adult causing harm or distress. Elder abuse can take several forms including, financial, psychological or emotional, sexual, spiritual and/or neglect.

 The prevalence of REPORTED elder abuse is 8.2% (2015 National

Survey).

 Medicine Hat 11,125 Older Adults 55+ (2016 Census)  Or 1640 older adults are being abused.  This does not include abuse that has NOT been Reported or

abuse occurring in our surrounding rural communities

 Family members are most often the abusers and Financial

Abuse is the most common type of abuse.

can you do, what the signs of Elder Abuse are and how to keep the door to communication open.

  • Training people to give the one hour Presentation.

Shantel & Colleen co-facilitated this workshop for 20 people last week. Both PCN & AHS participated, significantly increasing the future reach of this education
