slide-9
SLIDE 9

Earn up to 5 points for waste minimization activities. For example:

  • Reusable to-go containers
  • Back-of-house waste measurement system
  • Front-of-house food waste awareness campaign

Once the competition has begun, schools must submit weekly weights:

  • Food donated to people
  • Food fed to animals
  • Food used as biofuels
  • Food and/or compostable service ware composted

Food recovery actions that are higher up on the EPA’s Food Waste Recovery Hierarchy receive a higher score. Ex: 100 lbs of food that is donated to people will receive more points than 100 lbs of food that is composted. For full scoring explanation: https://recyclemania.org/participate/categories/
