This project is funded by the European Union A project implemented by a consortium led by

• Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (1989, IPCC) – independent

scientific information, impact on sectors and systems, preparation of proposals of climate change mitigation strategies

• United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change party(10 June

2001) – anthropogenic impact

• The “Paris Agreement” – adopted by 195 countries, commitments for the

period after 2020. Based on submitted GHG emission reduction targets (so called “INDCs”) Countries invited to revise their INDCs and to draft long‐term GHG emission reduction strategies

International activities

• Submitted in June 2015 ‐ first country in the region
• GHG emission reduction and climate change adaptation
• The total material damage caused by extreme climate and

weather events has exceeded the amount of EUR 5 billion since 2000; more than 70% of the losses are connected with drought and high temperatures. Floods were the second major reason for the significant losses – Adaptation strategy (IPA 2017)
