The contact person should be someone who has either filled out the return, supervised someone filling out the return or who has overall responsibility for filling out the return. In all cases, the contact person should be someone capable of providing explanations or additional information as necessary to the Central Statistical Office. C Employee (See C18 below) Regular Employees limit are those employees who have held a contract for one year or more as at the last working day of the reference period and for whom taxes and social security contributions are deducted by your establishment. Regular Employees with contracts having no time limit are regular employees for whom the contracts specify no particular date of termination. Regular Employees with fixed term contracts are those employees who have held a contract or succession of contracts for one year or more as at the last day of the reference period but for whom their contacts of employment specify a particular date of termination. Temporary Employees include: 1. employees in seasonal employment who hold explicit or implicit contracts of employment where the timing and duration of the contract is significantly influenced by seasonal factors; and 2. all other employees who hold explicit or implicit contracts of employment which have a duration period of less than one year or which is expected to have a duration period of less than one year. Note : Employees who have held a succession of these contracts for at least one year as at the last day of the reference period should be classified as regular employees with fixed term contracts. Periodicity of payment refers to the frequency at C 17. which the employees receive their pay. It does not refer to the basis of payment such as hourly, daily or weekly rated. For workers who receive their pay monthly, the pay period is a month and for weekly paid workers, the pay period is a week. C 18 Please record the number of employees as at the last working day of the reference period . Employees are defined as workers who hold explicit (written or oral) or implicit employment contracts

Such persons typically work under direct supervision of or according to the strict guidelines set by the owner(s) or persons in the owners’ employment. Please therefore exclude the following. � Working proprietors � Silent or inactive partners � Non-salaried Board Directors � Directors and managerial staff who are remunerated predominantly by a share of profits � Unpaid family workers � Consultants and sub-contracted workers not on the company’s payroll. � Workers on indefinite leave (ie. no longer on payroll) � Workers on long-term layoff (three months or more)? Please do include the following. � Salaried directors and management not predominantly remunerated by a share of profits � Probationary workers � Paid apprentices and trainees � Persons on paid vacation, sick, maternity and other leave � Persons working away from the establishment but paid by and under its control. � Workers on Strike Please note that items 19 – 23 are based on the above definition of employee C 19 Normal hours of work per day are those hours of work fixed by laws and regulations of Trinidad and Tobago, collective agreements or arbitral awards. Where not so fixed, normal hours of work per day should be taken as meaning the number of hours per day in excess of which any time worked is remunerated at overtime rates or forms an exception to the rules or customs of the establishment relating to the classes of workers concerned. Note: lunch or meal breaks are included in normal hours of work. C 20 Number of Standard Working days � per month should be taken as 30 less rest days (say Saturday/Sunday or any day of the week). � per fortnight should be taken as 14 less rest days (as above). � per week should be taken as 7 less any rest days (as above)

OCCUPATIONAL WAGES SURVEY FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO Questionnaire Questionnaire I NSTRUCTION AND E XPLANATIONS Section Item The following are some examples for monthly paid workers. � 26 days if working 6 days per week or if 4 rest days are granted per month; 1 � 24 days if working 5 days per week 2 � 22 days if working 5 days per week Please note that the number of standard working days does not refer to the number of days actually worked which may be affected by absenteeism, bad weather, strikes etc C 21 Please record the total number of hours for which the workers have received pay (including overtime at normal or premium rates), regardless of whether this time was spent at work or not. They include hours corresponding to paid holidays, paid vacation leave, paid maternity leave, paid sick leave etc. C 22 Please record the total number of overtime hours worked in excess of normal hours (as defined above – C19) and for which payment has been made. C 25 Please record the standard length of meal breaks per day per employee in minutes (according to established custom, policy, or regulations and agreements). Do not include short rest breaks including tea and coffee breaks. C 26 Total Wages and Salaries actually paid during the last pay period of the reference period Please include the following. � Basic wages and salaries � Cost of living allowances � Other guaranteed allowances which are paid for the same time period as the basic wages and salaries; and cost of living allowances Please exclude the following. � Overtime payments � Bonuses and gratuities � Family allowances � Social security payments made by employers; and � Ex gratia payments in kind.

OCCUPATIONAL WAGES SURVEY FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO Questionnaire Questionnaire I NSTRUCTION AND E XPLANATIONS Section Item C 27 Total Gross Earnings Actually Paid during the last pay period of the reference period Gross earnings relate to earnings before any deductions are made for taxes, contributions to social schemes, union dues, insurance premium and other employee obligations. Please include the following. Direct wages and salaries � Pay for normal time work � Premium pay (for overtime, holidays, weekend, shift and night work etc) � Incentive pay (production bonuses etc.) � Other regularly paid bonuses � Cost of Living Allowance � House-rent allowance paid directly by the employer � Other regular allowances paid directly by the employer Remuneration for time not worked � Annual vacation and other paid leave, including long-service leave. � Public holidays and other recognized holidays � Other time off granted with pay
