▪ LS3 Schedule shift – from CMS Upgrade Coordination

▪ Preliminary revised schedule by Feb 12, with internal review in Feb/March ▪ Finalized for P2UG April 1  we update as early as possible after preliminary release

▪ CD3a

▪ From CMS week – CE Silicon will NOT do a PRR before CD3a

  • Will not be ready in time, and do not need it that early

– But OT Silicon does

▪ Our proposal – move CE scope to November IPR/CD2

  • This would be a CD3b, but not involve any additional review

▪ CD2/IPR

▪ Nov 17 meeting scope still to be determined – if CD2/3 is doable in early/mid 2021, preferable

▪ Current Budget

▪ Almost done untangling the ball of yarn that was previous charging practice

  • Spent funds dropped from RLS
  • Mischarging: Funds with BCWS in different bucket than ACWP
  • CTC refactorization after funds spent – lesson learned!
  • Likely there is some stale funds at Institutes to soften the blow

▪ Will apply first statusing results when done, status Nov+Dec in 2nd round to catch up ▪ Fiscal Office/Directorate determined that we do not get special “construction” discount with MIE spending

  • Doing it for AUP was an error
  • Estimate 580k impat to TPC

▪ Total will be a BAC increase on the order of 0.5 - 1 M

LS3 Shift – from December 9 USG

HL LHC IPT Jan 9 2020

▪ Should aim for a U.S. schedule update asap, but between 2/12 and 3/31

▪ Will certainly need to comment for CD3a, but shouldn’t affect CD3a scope

slide-5
SLIDE 5

▪ Director’s Review is supplanted by “Extended PMG” Feb 20

▪ Agenda ▪ By Vidyo is ok, but physical presence better if possible

▪ CD3a scope

▪ OT Silicon, OT Module Mechanics, MTD LYSO

▪ Will generate a template for the CD3a talks

▪ Scope ▪ Schedule Justification ▪ Technical Maturity ▪ QA plan ▪ Basis of Estimate ▪ Risks

▪ PM will cover

▪ Overall project status ▪ Previous recommendations ▪ ESH ▪ Procurement

CD3a Charge

▪ Green names TBC ▪ Some concern about the size of the committee vs. the narrow scope fed back to CPO already

▪ Don’t want this to blow up into full project review ▪ CPO and Chair promise to keep focus on CD3a

▪ November Review is either CD2/3b or IPR

▪ Need to assess where a CD2/3 could be in light of the new LHC schedule and our statusing results ▪ For CD-2, need to update the cost estimate

  • Apply knowledge from final prototyping efforts to resource needs and

and durations

  • Refresh old quotes
  • Update BOEs and other documentation

▪ Likely a Director’s Review for this in August – Week of the 17-21? ▪ Project workshop in end of May to assess Readiness with sufficient time to remedy deficiencies

  • Window: May 18-29 – seems not too much else going on, any

comments?

▪ Limited to sites with dedicated infrastructure

▪ If you need a clean room or a probe station, you make the list

▪ By L2

▪ OT:

  • Silicon QA: Brown, Rochester (March 25)
  • Module Assembly: Brown, Princeton, Rutgers, SiDet
  • Flat Barrel Assembly: SiDet

▪ CE:

  • Silicon QA: FSU
  • Module Assembly: UCSB, TTU, CMU
  • Cassette Assembly: SiDet

▪ TDAQ: UW (proxy for all ATCA development) ▪ TFPX:

  • Sensor QA: ?
  • Module Assembly: Purdue, Nebraska, CUA
  • TFPX Assembly: Cornell

▪ Outreach opportunity: PM/L2 give a talk at the same time, to highlight HL LHC Upgrade and that institute’s vital role
